So, I did it! I ventured into the knitting world of items with shape. If you remember from the Knit Throw Pattern, I have been knitting for a few years, self-taught, but have only knit flat items as I was otherwise intimidated by the rest. Well, I’ve become such an advanced crocheter, I needed something more challenging, so I decided to try knitting hats and have been quite successful. And they say practice makes perfect, so I have been knitting up a storm of hats of all kinds of knit texture variations. I have even knitted cables! As I have been searching around for inspiration on my next project, I have seen these hats around that looked almost like beehives. After closer inspection I realized they were quite simple to make as it was just a few rows of knit stitch, then a few rows of purl stitches, repeated until you had the length of your hat. I decided to write out this pattern and share it with the rest of you. I hope you enjoy it! And happy knitting!

Materials:
– 1 skein of Lionbrand Hometown USA (Super Bulky – Size 6)
81 yds / 5 oz • 74 m / 142 g per skein, 100% Acrylic
– Size US11 (8 mm) 16″ Circular Knitting Needles
– Size US13 (9 mm) 16″ Circular Knitting Needles
– Size US13 (9 mm) Double Pointed Knitting Needles or Long Cable using the “Magic Loop Method”
– Stitch Marker

Size:
Child (4-12)

Gauge:
3 stitches x 3 rows = 1″ x 1″

Difficulty:
❤♡♡♡ Beginner

Abbreviations:
K – Knit
P – Purl
K2tog – Knit two stitches together

Hat Pattern:
With US 11, cast on 48 stitches. Join to form round.
Round 1-5: K1, P1 repeat to end. (Ribbing Pattern)
Change to US 13.
Round 6-9: K entire round for 4 rounds. (48)
Round 10-13: P entire round for 4 rounds. (48)
Round 14-17: K entire round for 4 rounds. (48)
Round 18-21: P entire round for 4 rounds. (48)
Round 22-25: K entire round for 4 rounds. (48)
Round 26-29: P entire round for 4 rounds. (48)
Round 30: K entire round once. (48)
Round 31: K3 *K2tog, K3* repeat to end. (39)
Round 32: K3,*K2tog, K2* repeat to end. (30)
Round 33: K entire round once. (30)
Round 34: *K1, K2tog* repeat to end. (20)
Round 35: *K2tog* repeat to end. (10)
Cut yarn and weave end through all remaining stitches to close hat. Weave in ends.
