The moon is a source of light. Therefore, the shutter can be fast, the iso can be low, and aperture doesn’t have to be opened as wide because you are already getting plenty of light from the moon itself, despite being dark outside. This is why it is a good idea to shoot the moon in manual because otherwise your camera may get confused as the rest of the background is very dark.

Supermoon

A Photography Recipe Card to take amazing photos of the moon.

Ingredients

• DSLR Camera
• 300mm f/5.6 Lens
  (no lower than 200mm,
  the longer, the better)
• Tripod
• Shutter Release Remote Control

Directions

Set up camera on Tripod, point to the sky, position the moon in the center of your frame, and shoot! Adjust the shutter speed as necessary until you are happy with the results. Use the remote shutter for less shake on the camera. Shoot & Enjoy!
